Higher education is the engine that powers the modern society away from the once-agrarian one. A modern university must play three important roles: learning, skepticism, and humanism. Learning means exchanging ideas either when feeling misguidance or in confusion and subsequently shaping the essence of "knowledge". Skepticism must come from questioning everything in daily life, and hence enabling dialogue, through which the society is constantly rejuvenated and renewed. Humanity is all about understanding and acceptance: understanding the untold stories, and acceptance of those which are different from the "norm". Because of this, higher education will be able to root and pass on from generation to generation.
